It's origin

Circulationvolleyball originates out of dissension of the static character, not being able to play in competition for very young children and the realization that children need challenges, which are stated in the six levels, which together form a method. A method that is based on what is attainable for the average child of a certain age.

Present state of affairs:

Now and than received with some scepsis, the plan has slowly found it's way and reached remarkable results. For example the national number of minivolleybal-players rose with 11%. Sudosa-Assen welcomed it's 200 minivolleybal-player (a record). In the region South-East Netherlands (only 18 clubs) - where the programm is running for 7 years now - the number of miniteams rose from 50 to 178.
The last two years there was a rise of 15% and 18%. An investigation by Flamingo's Gennep showed that 70% of the new members come from level 1,2 and 3. Another 20% at level 4,5 and 6. And only 10% at a later age.
The claim that after learning to swim children choose a sport is therewith acknowledged. Parents show more involvement with very young children, so formation of clubcadre is realized. In spite of the numbers which show good progress, the quality (technical and basic automatic moving) leave a lot to desire. Instructions and a lot of clinics need to change that. To be able to guarantee a constant quality-requirement, a lot of clubs need to go to semi-proffesionality, if we want to win the competion with other sports.
Also the image of minivolleyball leaves a lot to be desired (badminton-nets in stead of volleybal-nets special for minivolleyball, glued-on groundlines, common property lines in stead of real lines with the dimension of of minivolleybalcourt and too heavy balls). Clubs can win financially by changing the lines in the sports hall with new sets of lines (fitted with a net from side to side for four courts on one normal volleyballcourt).  Clear rules for competition-managers and referees can help also. Starting a national minivolleyball-comittee for The Netherlands will be useful too!
The big increase ( and it will come, because some regions don't do anything yet ) offers great oppurtunites for the NeVoBo. Minivolleyball should be the heart of the NeVoBo.

 The pros of circulationvolleyball.

  • The game is more developped from the mind and experience of the young child.
  • The games shows a lot of movents and is dynamic.
  • The game offers a challenge.
  • The many basicforms of moving are taught in a playfull way.
  • The peripheral insight and the bal-trajectory are stimulated in an early stage.
  • The rough basic movements of the volleyball-game a taught also in a playfull way.
  • The children have reached a good level to be able to flow smooth into minivolleyball, levels 4,5 and 6.
  • Circulationvolleyball is up to the mark ballgame, that can be introduced to the middle groups of primary education (6 and 7 year old children).
  • Circulationvolleyball can be the foundation for any ballsport.
  • In Holland it is custom for children to get swimming lessons when they are four- or five years old and after that choose a sport. With the introduction of circulationvolleyball the sport of volleyball has a means of competing with other ballsports, like tennis, soccer and hockey, succesfully.
  • Where other sports organize competions for their youngsters, volleyball can do that with circulationvolleyball too. If the NeVoBo would offer comptetions for six year old children and older, they would have thousands of members more.
  • Any child can participate in circulationvolleyball, the more talented as well as the less talented child. Every child is actively involved in the game.
  • Boys and girls can easily play together with circulationvolleyball.
Rules of circulation- and minivolleyball
